Our Retail store known as Impala Vleis is a 7 time Cleaver Award winning butchery winning the Cleaver Award for North West in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015. In 2016 we won the National Cleaver Award Platinum (No1 in South Africa). The Cleaver Awards were launched in 2005 as an initiative of the South African Red Meat Industry Forum, these Awards acknowledge butcheries which meet consumer expectations on in-store hygiene, the supply of quality assured roller marked South African Beef, their level of competency in offering the best advice on meal preparations and perceived value for money. Impala Vleis first won this award in 2010 as a rather young butchery competing with its peers that have been in the industry for decades or some 2nd and 3rd generation. We are proud of this achievement and support it as a driving force for quality in butcheries around South Africa.
Rossouw Meat Purveyors is a FSA Accredited factory through Intertek auditing body.
On our last audit our Food Safety System scored a 90.5% something we are very proud of.
For the past 9 years all our planning and the construction of our new facility has been done toward accreditation of our factory. We are very passionate about hygiene and food safety and accreditation by national and internationally recognised standards is a natural next step for us.
Accreditation of our facility gives our clients peace of mind that the product we supply conforms to the highest quality & safety standards.
In a world where people are ever more exposed to processed food and high volume produced meat a need for Food Safety Management is key. Food safety in the food industry in a nutshell means how safe is the food that you are serving your customers is. With so many other factors to worry about when serving food to customers worrying if the meat that you receive is of a safe standard is one thing all chefs would like peace of mind to.
As the Consumer Protection Act remains a hot topic the truth is no food preparation facility - be it a restaurant or canteen can afford to not have proper guidelines in place on where it sources its meat from.
Rossouw Meat Purveyors is in the implementation stage of its Food Safety Management System. Our FSMS (Food Safety Management System) is based on standards SANS22000, SANS10049 & SANS10330 HACCP. We are also looking at a variety of other best practices to work toward complying with these standards.
We chose to start with the implementation of such systems as to better align ourselves with industry leaders in food processing and to be able to provide to our clients with the peace of mind as well as the product to back it all up.
Rossouw Meat Purveyors works to lessen its impact on the environment, we are constantly working on new ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Recent advancements include – recycling of all our cardboard waste, fitment of our whole factory with LED lighting & installation of more energy efficient compressors in our Retail area.

We at Rossouw Meat source all of our Beef from local Abattoirs & farmers - we are firm believers that South Africa produces some of the best red meat in the world. We also believe in supporting the local economy and reinvesting in our people and community.
